Case study

MyChina — a buying application built around demand

How dabl.dev helped a retail buying team replace spreadsheet decisions with software that understands seasonal patterns.

Customer

MyChina is a retail store carrying over 50,000 products.

The problem

The buying team managed purchasing decisions for more than 50,000 products in spreadsheets, working through stock levels by hand to decide what to buy.

It was slow, hard to scale, and did not account for seasonal demand.

The approach

dabl.dev built MyChina a custom buying application on a web interface. It reads current stock levels from a CSV and flags what needs to be bought, based not only on low stock levels but on historical and seasonal trends.

MyChina is a partner, so the system is under ongoing development and is constantly being optimised.

The outcome

MyChina’s owner has told us the tool has saved the buying team around 40% of their time.

The broader lesson

Replacing a spreadsheet with software that understands the pattern behind the numbers, not just the current count, turns a manual chore into a decision buyers can trust.
